"Midsummer Day's Dream" NEW SHOW DATES
Welcome to "Midsummer Day’s Dream" 2 person show at Kronos Arts and Gifts on Vashon Island WA
Dreaming of summer is the traditional Northwest occupation during our long rainy winters. Of what do we dream? Days of warm sunshine, magnolias in bloom, cherries and raspberries, early morning birdsongs – the wonders of summer. Most beloved are the sweet moments of repose when soft images float in the mind like the sudden appearance of a rainbow.
The works of art that will be shown during the months of June and July are inspired by these times, when we dream with our eyes open. Mastering the technique of Russian impressionism, Emiliya Lane’s work is a celebration of life and the quiet things around us. Still life, landscape, and portrait are the traditional genres of impressionism, and Emilya excels in each. Freshness of fruits and vegetables is captured with gestural brushstrokes. Titles evoke various intimate relationships which are played out in compositions with anthropomorphic themes.
The ceramics of Elena Wendelyn are the unique rewards of the exciting explorations of a new raku kiln. Fern coils and leaves bloom transfixed in clay emerging from blazing fire and billowing smoke. Drawing her inspiration from nature and the human body, her recent collection of work offers a variety of themes and subjects for the viewer’s pleasure.
The opening night is June, Friday1, 2012. The show runs throughout months of July.
You can see Emiliya's paintings and Elena's ceramic for the whole 2 months

"Red Delicious" oil on canvas 18"x24"
A studio painting - 3 sessions and almost 15 hours . It's definitely
a little overdone - I prefer a deliberate and assertive strokes .
But I'm happy with the colors - fresh, juicy and bold. Still think I will spend another 2 hours on creating visible brush strokes .
